Accessibility Plan

Quiet Space

The quiet space is located at Chilliwack Society of Performing Arts (45898 Victoria Ave).

It is a space for people to go when they feel overwhelmed or overstimulated. That is why the space:

  • is cool
  • has low noise
  • has warm lighting
  • is scent-free

Accessibility & information booths

There are four accessibility & information booths. They are located at every entrance into the Pride Festival (Victoria Ave, College Street, and two on Wellington Ave). 

At these booths, you can access:

  • free water bottles
  • free snacks
  • free earplugs
  • water for dogs
  • accessibility feedback forms
  • the map and schedule
  • general assistance

Free Mobility Equipment Rentals

Wheelchairs and walkers are free to rent during the festival. They are located at the Accessibility and Information booth at the beginning of Victoria Ave near Young Road.

Food truck assistance

There will be volunteers in bright yellow tshirts near the food trucks that will can help with purchasing and picking-up food from food trucks.

Live Captioning

There will be Live Captioning in English. To access this feature, you will need a mobile device with internet connection.

Live Captioning will be available during speeches, storytime, and all drag performances.

American Sign Language Interpreters

American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters will be present at the main stage at Chilliwack Central Park.

ASL interpretation will be available during speeches, storytime, and all drag performances.

Misting stations

To make sure that everyone stays cool, there will be misting stations throughout the festival grounds.

You can find some located at:

  • Mill street
  • Wellington ave
  • In the Kids Zone at Central Elementary

Volunteer visibility & assistance

To make it easier to locate Chilliwack Pride volunteers, they will be wearing bright t-shirts or laynards that say "Volunteer".

Volunteers that will be able to help:

  • provide information about where things are located
  • answer questions or direct you to where your questions can be answered

Other accessibility features include:

  • wheelchair accessible and gender-neutral washrooms
  • accessibility parking at Central Elementary School
  • seating at stage areas & eating area
  • a raised main stage to increase visibility
  • mental health first aid by Sandalwood Wellness

Free menstural products in all washrooms

In partnership with Project AIM, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing people with access to free menstrual products, we have committed to including free menstrual products in each of the washrooms in the festival.
